Tesla S – Model X to debut in September 2015
Tesla at 1 Billion miles and counting …….. Waiting for the smaller more affordable model X in late 2016 to join the party ??
Update: August 6th 2016
Tesla Model X debuts next month
Finally! Tesla Motors said in its shareholders letter yesterday that it will release the Model X in September. The Model X is the company’s crossover electric vehicle, and it’s been long on the horizon after being first shown in February 2012. Production was supposed to begin in late 2013, but a series of delays followed as Tesla fine-tuned the design and bounced back after the company nearly fell apart.
Only a small number of the early production models will actually ship out in September, as the company continues producing release candidates and ramping up manufacturing. Granted, even with the release a month away, it’s a tentative target: Musk says any issues with parts or suppliers could cut output drastically. But at least a handful of people ought to be rolling out Model X’s in a few weeks’ time.

Founded in 2003, #Tesla came to prominence initially with the Tesla Roadster, which was one of the first all-electric sports cars to hit U.S. highways en-masse when it rolled out of production in 2008. Tesla has produced a handful of electric vehicles (EVs) since, including the upcoming Tesla Model X, but the Tesla S has emerged as one of the best-selling plug-in electric cars, ousted only by the Nissan Leaf in 2014.
While Tesla doesn’t disclose its vehicle sales numbers on a monthly basis, reports suggest the company has shifted around 75,000 Tesla S cars since they went to market in 2012, which would make it the third best-selling plug-in electric vehicle of all time around the world. Interestingly, the Tesla S became the first electric vehicle to come out trumps in total new car sales in a single month in a whole country — in September and December 2013, both times in Norway.
After ten years in business, Tesla turned its first profit back in 2013, and earlier this year the companyreported its best ever quarter, selling 10,030 cars in Q1 2015, representing a 55 percent year-on-year rise.
