Solar Park for Angus
New Mains of #Guynd Solar Park is a 12MW ground mounted large solar PV project on farmland at #Carmyllie, Arbroath in Angus.
The 19.5ha (48 acre) site has been specifically selected for development as it has excellent levels of irradiance (daylight), it is gently sloping to the south and has a simple electricity grid connection.
The #solar park will produce enough energy to power around 2750 homes.
All of the legal agreements for the solar park use on the land is in place and no third party land requirements are needed.
Planning permission was granted by Angus Council on 6th October 2014 as a delegated decision.
The project has a confirmed grid connection for 9.5MW with an anticipated connection date in early 2016.
The current proposal is to have the New Mains of Guynd Solar Park constructed and generating electricity in early 2016.
Owner of BWE Partnership, Ron Shanks, said: “This is an exciting time for BWE Partnership as we enter the construction stage of delivering what we believe is Scotland’s first large commercial solar park.
“This site was selected because of its excellent levels of irradiance which is vital to the effectiveness of a solar park as this powers the entire project.”
Kevin Jackson, partner of the family farm, said: “I am delighted that New Mains of Guynd is playing a key part in this large scale development for renewables in Scotland. This agreement with BWE Partnership will allow us to maximise income generation from our land without hindering day-to-day activities. I’m looking forward to seeing the solar park installed and operating.”
