WOOD GROUPĀ  45% INCREASED PROFITSĀ - – - – BUT

Wood Group Gas Turbines in Dundee have announced that it is to close it’s facility in Dundee after failing to make it pay.

This announcement means 150 employees will lose their jobs or be re-located to other parts of the group.

It never ceases to amaze me how insensitive and uncaring these decisions are. We have less than 2 weeks to Xmas, do these BUSINESS “leaders” not enjoy christmas or think about the impact of these devastating decisions on the normal family that it will hit ?

This happened a few years ago in Dundee at the same time with Trak Microwave when similar business “leaders” took the same decision to scrap hundreds of jobs on the run up to christmas.

I’m sure everyone understands that Britian in no longer a place to manufacture or make money out of engineering BUT WHY WHY swing the axe so close to the end of a year? Probably because it suits the accountants and the business “leaders” accounting and book keeping.

Those same “leaders” will have a lovely comfortable end of year, at home with their family. They will spend thousands from their huge salaries all in the very comfortable knowledge that they have equally massive pensions waiting for them, and a job swinging the axe waiting for them next year and the year after regardless of whether or not they perform!

There is simply NO SOCIAL CONCIENCE in business in Britain today. It’s another sad tale for Dundee’s workers while the fat cats continue to get fatter.

Merry Xmas to all from the bosses of all these companies. They are completely comfortable in the knowledge that they are “all right jack” – what a sorry state to be in.

The Council claim they “have never heard of” local firm Hi-Fli Flags and Banners who are located in Kirriemuir.
